Return of the Meeple – Questions & Answers

Jim Reed   |   06/7/2021

Dear Malted Meeple Guests,

Since the recent announcement of our reopening, we have heard from a lot of you. Whether by phone or email, on social media or in person, we’ve received an outpouring of support, and quite a few questions as well. We are glad that you’re as excited as we are for the Return of the Meeple, and wanted to take a moment to answer some of your most frequently asked questions about the new Malted Meeple.

When are you actually reopening?

At this point we are on track to resume operations on Monday, June 14th – just one week from now! Stay tuned to our social media though, it’s possible we may be able to open even a bit earlier!

What will your hours be?

At least initially, we are planning on being open from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday through Friday, and Noon to 11:00 PM Saturday. As we settle in and shake the rust off, we will revisit our hours and determine whether to remain open later on the weekends. There’s also discussion of possibly being open to some extent on Sundays in the future…

Will you be honoring gift cards purchased from the Malted Meeple in the past?

Absolutely. All gift cards which were valid at the time of our closure will be honored going forward. That being said, we are no longer working with the issuer of our original gift cards, which means utilizing existing gift cards won’t be as simple as swiping the card. If you have a gift card you would like to redeem, please see your server for details on the new redemption process.

Will you be honoring existing memberships?

Absolutely. In fact, all memberships which were valid as of the date of the first pandemic shutdown (March 18, 2020) will have their expiration dates extended through December 31, 2021. Please see your server to be issued a revised membership card.

When will you begin offering role playing events?

Soon, very soon. We had a very productive meeting last week with some great dungeon masters, and are thrilled that many of them will be joining us as official Malted Meeple Game Masters. We are quickly ramping up our offerings, and in fact we already have two Kids Dungeons & Dragons and one Call of Cthulhu session scheduled. Stay tuned later this week for details on those events.

We are excited to be making some changes to the way role playing works at the Malted Meeple. In particular, we are planning an expansion of our Sponsored Role Playing sessions (such as Kids Dungeons & Dragons). These ticketed sessions feature a dedicated Malted Meeple Game Master, leading a specific role playing experience in a private room, and provide a premium gaming experience.

We will have more on our Sponsored Role Playing in the coming days, but in the meantime, Open Role Playing will be available from the moment we reopen our doors. Stop in with your pre-formed group to enjoy some gaming any time!

Are you adding any new items we should know about?

We have a new management team running the day to day operations of the Meeple, and they’ve brought with them some great new ideas. At the moment we’re focused on getting the doors open again, but we’ll be rolling out some exciting new changes in the coming months.

As just a teaser of what’s to come, we have:

  • A refresh of our patio and outdoor areas, including the addition of some great outdoor/patio games!
  • Growler service, including custom Malted Meeple growlers!
  • Prepaid Game Passes!

Stay tuned for details on these and more in the coming weeks!
