Mark your calendar for this Saturday – alongside other fun events like Santa on the Green (9 AM-3 PM on December 4th) Destination Hudson is bringing back winter fireworks this weekend. Watch the fireworks from one of the downtown shopping areas or alternatively, the Meeple! I mean, sipping on a milkshake while watching fireworks in December? Can’t get much merrier than that!

The traditional Christkindlmarkt will return December 11th (12-8 PM) and 12th (12-4 PM) on the Hudson Green! Visitors will peruse tents decorated for the season and interact with artisans – perhaps even stumbling upon a unique gift from a local vendor. There will be European food specials as well as German musical performances. Finish off your night and come warm up with a visit to the Meeple, play some games, and let us know what your favorite part was.

Case-Barlow has an incredible event lineup for the month of December. Click here to read more about Christmas Tea and visits with Santa. Today we are going to highlight their Winter Wonderland event happening on December 19th from 1 PM – 4 PM.  The open house will showcase over 25 beautifully decorated Christmas trees.  The decorated trees, Santa’s sleigh and the ambiance of the lighted barn will make the most breathtaking backdrop for your holiday photos and posts. Holiday music and treats abound! There is no admission fee for this event, but donations are graciously accepted.

The Hudson Library and Historical Society has been running their Goblins & Galaxies Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club for nearly a year now and it is full steam ahead. In the past, the club has featured books like Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and The Broken Sword by Poul Anderson. Even if you haven’t finished the book, you’re welcome to listen and participate. New members are always welcome, and registration is required. Check out the gallery of images at the bottom of this post for a printable bookmark that highlights the books up for discussion over the next few months. The very talented Derrick who facilitates the book club at the library is responsible for the creation of this handy tool!
